Working with the USFS, our lab is running one of eight common garden experiments spread across the western US. In these common gardens, we are planting individual native forbs from dozens of different populations to identify those populations that are most likely to succeed as restoration species in post fire and disturbance restoration efforts.

To better understand why some populations are more successful than others, our lab is exploring the role of soil chemistry and biology in determining plant growth.
